Dr. Suneel Valla was born in Johannesburg, South Africa. He graduated in 1981 from the University of Natal Medical School in Durban. He completed his internship at Baragwanath Hospital, a tertiary 2,000 bed facility (largest in the Southern Hemisphere) that serves a population of several million people. He worked in various subspecialties before settling on Urology. As senior medical officer, he ran the unit for several years.
In 1998, he moved to the United States and d (a secocompletend) residency in family medicine. He has since achieved board certification in subspecialties of sleep disorders and pain management. Currently Dr Valla’s practice is limited to Sleep Medicine that he started 2001. He is Medical Director of the Sleep Disorders Center at St Luke’s Quakertown and Miners but also runs clinics in Allentown, Bethlehem and Warren, NJ where he treats the entire spectrum of sleep disorders covering all ages from infancy to elderly.
There are over 80 conditions listed in the International Classification of Sleep disorders that may affect patients day to day lives. Patients might not get a full or good quality night of sleep and their daily productivity may also be hindered.

Pre-existing medical conditions such as: Diabetes, heartburn, heart failure, kidney disease, thyroid disease, asthma and more. Psychiatric conditions such as anxiety or depression affects sleep . Non-medical factors can also play a role such as: stress, diet, and poor sleep habits can also play a significant role.
